Improving Security and Night-Time Visibility Across the Region
One of the Minister’s early priority projects was restoring non-functional streetlights across the Greater Accra Region to improve safety and road visibility. Within 50 days of assuming office, over 126 streetlights across the region’s 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) were repaired and restored.
This initiative targeted major roads and highways including:
- George Walker Bush Highway
- Independence Avenue (Jubilee House Road)
- ACP–Pokuase Road
- New Town Junction–Ashaiman Road
The project was launched to enhance public safety, reduce crime, and improve night-time economic activity in the capital.
